Every year from November to February the eagles gather on Coeur D’Alene Lake in Idaho to feast on the salmon. They gather by the hundreds and you can watch them dive from trees around the lake. We pulled off the road and they dove right in front of us. This year was my first time watching them. It was a bit cloudy and rainy so my light is horrible. I was ok the first day with camera settings but the second day…. I honestly think I just got lucky the first day. I took the majority of the pictures on Aperture Priority which I thought would work on the cloudy day. Not so much. We took the Nikon D500 and the Nikon D7500 out. The D500 definitely had better tracking and it allowed for better multiple burst shots. I have a lot to learn still. I took out my tripod and gimble which was super helpful . It was cold and my lens weighs a ton. All in all not a bad outing. Out of the HUNDREDS of pictures we took a few turned out pretty amazing. Every outing is a learning experience so hopefully between now and January/February I can learn from my mistakes and show some improvement.
