We are experiencing a cold snap here. The traffic in the yard at the feeder has been crazy. I’m always shocked at how the little birds survive such harsh conditions. I’ve seen a huge surge of finches in the yard. During nice weather I may see one or two yellow finches mixed in with the house finches. The last two days the feeders and trees have been loaded with them.
I’ve had one random starling that has been around and even some horned larks. The quail have increased in number as well. They line up on fence early morning and again in late afternoon and wait for feeder fill. After they eat they huddle together puffed up for a group nap.
It’s so cold! Most of the shots were taken through the window. They’re not as clear as I would like them to be.
