I spend most of my time shooting with my D500 or D850. The Nikon D850 is a full 45.7 megapixel full frame camera. This means it is heavier and the files are much larger. I don’t use it often and tend to keep less out of camera. I now have an external hard drive for storage which is nice. My computer was filling up fast. The D850 is heavy. It’s a bit much to handhold all day for birding. I almost always use the D850 with a tripod and gimbal head.
It was interesting to see the progression and improvement as I moved through my picture folder. I can see improvements in lighting, composition and editing. In the beginning I couldn’t figure out how to download a picture without the camera detail being part of the picture. The only editing I did was crop and push the auto edit button on my iPhone. I can now use Lightroom or Photoshop Express for any editing changes if I want, although I feel like I have TONS to learn in these programs. Eventually I’d like to take a Photoshop class and learn how to use that program.
What a journey so far. I can’t wait to see the improvement as time goes on. My camera has become an invaluable coping tool for me. I feel very lucky to have found it.
